    1. Sikhs went through a long ‘vacuum’ period after Guru Gobind Singh ji’s jyoti jot. I understand that the Mata Sundari ji, who was looking after Sikh affairs from Delhi, asked Bhai Mani Singh ji to collect whatever papers he could salvage from Guru Sahib’s court and preserve them (many writings having been lost after the evacuation of Anandpur Sahib). The result was a pothi that was created around 10 – 15 years after Guru Sahib. The pothi went through a series of additions and amendments, and at one stage a printer named it with the words ‘Dasam Granth’ in the title.
